Golf Course Types by Owner

One of the things that a newcomer in the golf world would probably know is what is the difference between different types of golf courses. This issue is more complicated than we first imagine that May is actually three different ways to express what category a particular golf course is part of.

The first is controlled by class and a course if it is found in the moors, forests or the ocean, etc. The second type is the length, where the course is classified primarily by the length of time it takes to play a round, so these guys will pitch & putt, on any length or leader, so called because the rulers may not time to play a part over a distance of 18 holes. Most executive courses are only 9 holes.

In this article, although we will examine how land Golf can be classified by the property. These two types of categorization let you know what to expect when you turn up to play. However, this third type of categorization determines whether or not you are allowed to access this course at all.

What follows is not a exhaustive list of types of courses, but these are the most popular types of course that you may encounter.

Private golf courses are courses which are held a golf club and they can only play by club members. If you're not a club member, you can not play, unless of course you fortunate to be invited to play by someone who is already a member.

Public golf courses can be courses owned private organizations or individuals or other organizations such as local businesses. The key here is that the owner charges a fee to play. Essentially, this means that the course is open to be played by anyone who can afford to pay fees.

There are also courses that are essentially a combination of both. Club members can play at any time. The public is allowed to play, but usually only during weekdays, or the moments the day.

Municipal golf course are owned by local government. They operate as public golf courses, but the price paid for green fees goes to them, as opposed to an individual or a company.

Some residential areas have their own golf course which is designed to be played by local residents. They tend to be managed by the community itself and as such are not open to the public.

Finally, there is the resort Golf Course. Golf Golf Resort are owned and managed by a recreation center or a hotel chain for the sake of their hosts. Play in May is not limited to resort guests, however, and so you may find some resort courses are open to the public in exchange for a fee.
