Golf Course Maintenance?

I have seen gardeners Golf spray some kind of green cloth to the poor (brown) sod. They said it was done to the lawn and helps keep them looking Nice. Does anyone know what this stuff is and where I can buy? He was in a regular spray can, like spray paint, but made just for grass. Thank you.

Mostly brown spots on the route (eg the Greens) are usually caused by grub worms or other pests to eat beneath the surface ... no dry spots of sun. Not sure what he used but ask around the garden department at Lowe's and places like that.
