Black Golfers History

If you read this, you're not the average person, so you can stop being angry against me and this article opinion. But for those who need to have this read to you, I feel a bit sorry for you. You're missing out on a majority of what the world has to offer. Then Now, you've calmed down a bit, let me tell you, but first a word about myself.
I'm fairly average American with an education above average. I finished college and graduate school. Growing up in the '50s, television was not a big deal if I read for pleasure. I would go to the library and read the adventure, science fiction books, even classics. I always read the newspaper daily and kept up with the news. So what I learned from my 19 years of education?
Well, I know the basics of world and American history. I can recite all the presidents in order and to know our birth as a nation and the various conflicts as well. I understand the geography and could name most countries and the U.S. on a world or national map. I rarely look a word in common usage, have the math skills standard, and can understand more scientific concepts. My wife has the same education and So we can discuss almost everything we encounter on the news or in the newspaper. However, it is not so with many of you there.
If you've ever watched Jay Leno's Tonight Show to make his "Jaywalking" bit, you can appreciate where I am coming. Once a week he goes outside the workshop to ask questions of general knowledge of any person chosen at random. He first asked for their profession and we can testify teachers, students, professionals, managers and, therefore, a cross section of the average American. The subject he chose a Topics such as global warming or the presidential primaries and the fun begins, although this is not really fun for the recipient, entire audience. Some questions that have puzzled these poor people are as follows:
- Why do we celebrate July 4 th?
- Who is the current vice-president?
- Who fought in the Civil War?
- What body of water west the United States?
- How many stars on the American flag and what do they represent?
- Who was divorced from Brittany Spears?
- Who is President George W. Bush Married?
- Where would you find the Liberty Bell?
- Who invented the phone?
- Name the planet nearest the sun?
- Who is divorced from Brad Pitt?
- How many feet are in a mile?
Well then how did you do? I just realized that you meet with the Road. Incidentally, you might have guessed from the title of this article they were terrible, but I'm sure you faired better. Most of them could only answer 2 of 12. Can you guess which 2? It is a sad commentary in itself, do not you think? But the average American should know all or most of these issues. Your children font, because they study this stuff at school. But there is no excuse because you're now 30 years old and have been absent school for over 12 years. You should always know about the civil war and why, if held and by whom. This is our history and part of our culture. It eventually led to the abolition of slavery and civil rights of all minorities. So if you're black, Hispanic or Asian, take account. The same is true for the rest of our history, geography and science.
The problem lies in our lack of reading or watching the news. This is a lost art that has been supplanted by computers and television. Most of us are too absorbed by other busy to read a book or to see how current events in May are shaping our environment. Our brief years of schooling are not sufficient for us for the coming decades.
Know and understand the world around you adds to the richness and fullness of our lives. Being able to recognize of landmarks, historical references and achievements of science is a blessing. Continue to learn and absorb the facts and information that makes us grow as individuals and experience a plethora of new and exciting opportunities. Although I seem to be sesquipedaliantic sometimes allow me this honor. For now, I expect you to go to a dictionary and see what I wanted to say. Or you're about to stop reading and have a beer and turn on the TV instead? It's your choice that's why most Americans are stupid and should remain so. They make bad choices, but it's not too late to change. I'll continue my rant and suggestions for a solution in Part 2.
